Because Wendy has studied and taught martial arts—in addition to physical therapy—she has a unique knowledge base from which to help patients regain strength and balance.Earning a Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do and graduating Summa Cum Laude from Southwestern Community College (2006), Wendy has proven that she understands setting goals and achieving them. She uses her skills to help our patients do the same.As a Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant (with post-graduate specialties listed below), Wendy works alongside our evaluating Physical Therapists to carry out the patient's plan of care.“I enjoy motivating our patients,” Wendy said. “I always look for creative ways to engage each patient to find the small ways that help him or her work towards improved function.”Balance, flow, agility, core strength, and endurance are all necessary for physical therapy and for martial arts, and Wendy incorporates those in her work with patients.“I also enjoy using active play (helping children gain physical strength, coordination and flexibility through play activities) in working with children and their families.”Her post-graduate training includes Lymphedema management, neurodevelopment treatment techniques and treating sensory processing disorders with children. She has also studied McKenzie Spinal Care for back or neck pain, and treatment techniques for balance and mobility problems and foot and ankle problems.“I love working with our cancer patients to help them manage post treatment swelling or fatigue. I have a personal commitment to what they are going through and can help keep them motivated that they are going to feel better.”Wendy is a Certified Lymphedema Therapist, with over 145 hours of post graduate study, with certification exam, to obtain this specialty.One of Wendy’s patients tells us
